Musical Trifectas

A trifecta is when three names line up: the artist, one of their albums, and a song on it are all the same. The band Bad Company opens their album Bad Company with the song "Bad Company." Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead — same trick, same three words, three times each.

It's a small, self-referential flourish: a group planting its flag with an eponymous record and a title track to match. Once you start looking for it, you notice it runs heavily toward metal and hard rock — the eponymous statement of purpose is practically a genre convention. So each row below is flagged when the music is metal-related, and the genres that triggered the flag are shown so you can check the call.

The list is found by scanning the whole graph in parallel and is rebuilt with every data update — so it grows and corrects itself as MusicBrainz does.
